At the beginning of 2023, Dummy Toys recorded their second full-length album ‘War Is Nightmare.’ It has been four years since the first album, and their music has become heavier and more mature. Like a child growing up, it feels like the potential energy of the whole body is waiting to be released.

A message from the band:

We trust you know how difficult it has been to be a band in the past few years. Fortunately, we can still be close together, go through the boring and depressing reality, and empathize with our thoughts. Although we know that there is not much to change, we still want always to stay awake and survive in the cracks. Music should not be stressful. It should allow us to let go of our defenses, release the emotions accumulated in our daily lives, embrace the suffering of being human, and imagine that we are living in a peaceful age with no worries about food and clothing, in a corner but so vulnerable. Flowing from that piece of history unforgettable, it seems like a dream of magical realism. The chaos in the past has begun to be stable and orderly. I am glad that we are still standing tall. It does not matter that the melody may not sound good to the main-stream audience or may not please them enough. We just want to punk out our music loudly without explaining the meaning of it. We just start to rethink justice and evil, good and bad; these may be just a thought. We cast aside trivial emotions that don’t serve us anymore, questioning if we’re capable of being our authentic selves. Human nature is fragile. These enigmatic propositions are as deep and mysterious as the cosmos itself. We simply aim to provide a ray of hope, a moment to catch our breaths in the midst of life’s chaotic uncertainties.

This album was created in cooperation with the sound engineer and producer, Dylan Yan, and illustrator, Gan Quan. They both worked on our previous album and have been good partners. They have a tacit understanding of our music and ideas. We hope their talents can continue to be seen!

For this release, we also collaborated with London's well-known punk master, Daniel Husayn. Our electric tracks were fine-tuned to perfection in his studio, Bomb Factory Mastering, in the North of London.

The vinyl for this release is distributed as part of a co-release between Laibixi Records (Germany-Leipzig), DIY Kolo Records (Poland-kolo), Genjing Records (USA/China), and Tmom Records (Germany-Berlin).
The domestic version is released by the Qingdao-based China label DMC.
